A great review of Astra's debut album, Where You Rest, in the July edition of "Acoustic magazine:
"This is an unusual but beguiling piece of work. Astra has a breathy voice which is redolent of Beth Orton and Vashti Bunyan in equal measure, and a unique ear for melody. This melodic sensibility is underpinned by guitar, violin, cello and piano in arrangements which have a feel of film scores about them. The packaging seems deliberately obtuse, with very little information and no pictures, but seek Astra out, it might just be worth it."

Astra Brighton gig
Astra, whose debut album Where You Rest was released on Isolation on March 23, is playing a gig on Friday, April 10, at the Fairtrade Gallery, Montague Place, in Brighton.
This performance is part of the April Alternative, Brighton's new arts festival. Astra will be appearing at the Kemptown venue on a bill with Mary Hampton. Tickets are £5 and the gig starts at 8pm.
The following night, Astra returns to the same venue where her band project, The Robot Heart, is supporting Ed Harcourt.

Astra: Where You Rest Available now
Brighton singer-songwriter Astra's debut album, Where You Rest, is available now on Isolation Recordings. You can order Where You rest now for £7.99 (plus postage).
Written when she was 19 and recorded over two days, Where You Rest catalogues what Astra describes as "wanderings of love, longing and loss" in a mesmeric voice, by turns vulnerable and dreamy, powerful and direct.
With an acoustic sound that has been compared to Joni Mitchell, Beth Gibbons and the autumnal Englishness of Nick Drake, Astra brings unflinching honesty to her songs.
Her tales of outsiders and of everyday hopes and disappointments are complemented beautifully by spare, precise arrangements.
Abi Fry (British Sea Power, Bat For Lashes) plays viola on all but one of the eight tracks, while Dave Hickson on piano adds delicate sketchy motifs and hammered tattoos, perfectly fitting the mood of the songs.
Acoustic guitar from Astra underpins the overall sound.
Where You Rest is available as a limited-edition digipak with a twelve-page booklet of lyrics/artwork by Astra.
